Biography

Meet Trevor Searles…

Painting, drawing and, photography are the ways I express myself. It started before grade school when I would get my older sister’s coloring books and trace the cartoons and then color them. I can remember from grade school to the present that I have always colored, redrawn or created a picture or art piece.

As long as I can remember I have been signed up for an art class. In middle school I started getting serious and began drafting. My first 3 years of high school were spent focused on architecture. At the end of my third year, while taking Art 1-2-3 and pottery, the program was cut.

In 1994, when I finished high school, I joined the Marine Corps. During my time as a Marine, I fell in love with photography. This was a period where taking when taking pictures of a foreign country or a quick light sketch could easily become a life or death situation while completing various missions.

While I was in the military I took photography and painting courses which helped me to enhance my skills. Looking back, I would say that this helped me to prepare for the next step of my art career. Imagine how surprised others where when I returned to college and majored in networking and graphic arts.

In regard to painting and drawing, I consider myself to be self-taught. I feel this is especially true now with the internet and YouTube because I never really stop learning and growing when it comes to art. I’m self-driven and I create my art by what I see around me. What I see I try to recreate and of course I finish by putting my special touch on all my art work.

Unlike most artists, I don’t just stick to one style. I like to change things up and make my work appealing to diverse groups. My background in graphic art helps to keep my work creative, especially in regard to the layout of my pieces.

I attribute my eye for detail to my days in the Marine Corps. Through my travels of Europe, Northern Africa, and the Middle East comes the passion and influence that translates into my art. My travels have allowed me to meet artists from worlds away allowing only our art to break the language barrier. This is not to discount the many mixes of talent from the United States seen from state to state. I enjoy combining both worlds of painting and photography almost like doing a photoshop image with a pencil or paintbrush.

With the said, I hope you enjoy my work and feel the amazement of owning one of my pieces.
